1.Who is your favorite celebrity in China?
Well, because I’m a big fan of swimming, Sun Yang would have to be my favourite celebrity. He is a freestyle swimmer and in 2012 he became the first male Chinese swimmer to ever win an Olympic gold medal – in the 400 metres freestyle. An amazing achievement!
2.Do you like any foreign celebrities?
Well, in terms of swimming again, I really admire Michael Phelps, who is an American swimmer. He has been around for years but at the 2012 Olympics he became the first swimmer to ever win eight gold medals at one Olympics. Then in 2016 he added – I think it was another five gold medals? Something like that, which is pretty impressive for someone over thirty!
3.Would you want to be a celebrity in the future?
No, definitely not. I have absolutely no desire to become famous - I value my privacy far too much.
4.Do you think we should protect famous people’s privacy?
Well, I think in a way it’s the price you pay for being a celebrity. If you’re a famous sports star, I think it’s probably relatively easy to stay out of the limelight unless you want to be the center of attention. Other so-called celebrities seem to me to be completely devoid of talent, though. They are only famous for"being famous"!
5.How do celebrities influence their fans in China?
I think many young fans look up to and admire Chinese celebrities. Being famous carries a certain responsibility in this respect. Young people are likely to be influenced by the behavior of their heroes – and celebrities should be careful not to let them down.
