雅思写作TASK2：Some people think that governments should do more to make their citizens have a healthy diet. Others, however, believe that individuals should be responsible for their own diet and health.Discuss both views and give your own opinions.健康膳食，政府的责任还是个人的责任？
In contemporary society, government is supposed to fulfill the mission of promoting the progress of citizens’ living quality. Therefore, some taxpayers insist that the authority should ensure them have a healthy diet; while others contend individuals themselves should be accountable for their diet and health. Admittedly, both sides are reasonable to some extent and I would analyze them as follows.
On one hand, for the sake of public health, several measures ought to be taken by the state and the most urgent is that they should enact laws aiming to assess food nutrition. In recent years, we are appalled by the frequent outbreak of such incidents like milk powder adulterated with melamine, lean meat powder and a spate of food contamination cases. In response, policy makers are called for to strengthen the scrutiny of food security in an attempt to make sure what consumers eat is safe. Apart from this, it is also wise to impose a heavy tax on unhealthy food. Statistics show that 60% of people who suffer from obesity, heart disease or high blood pressure are fond of eating junk food containing too much fat and sugar. Undoubtedly, the increasing price of those food can restrain customers from purchasing them. As a result, the masses may tend to choose the balanced and nutritious diet.
On the other hand, it is a fact that people’s lifestyle and choice of dietary structure generate direct impacts on their health. Due to the convenience of modern vehicles, most residents prefer to take buses or drive private cars to someplace which may be within less than half of an hour’s walk from their home. Besides, the advanced internet technology enables netters to do online shopping, order food and even transfer money from e-bank account without stepping out of home. Under such circumstance, less and less people take regular exercise such as walking or bicycling, which is deemed as a main reason for the erosion of a natural resistance to diseases. What’s more, fruits and vegetable should be given priority in our daily diet. Despite the tasty flavor of fried chicken or roast meat and steak, it is suggested to guarantee the intake of vitamins and fiber is adequate to keep fit.
In conclusion, as far as I am concerned, government’s interference as well as personal behaviors are indissolubly bound up with public health and only when both parties make concerted efforts can citizens live a healthy life.
