There are those who argue that pharmaceutical companies should focus exclusively on developing drugs that are intended to treat illnesses rather than developing cosmetic and health products. In my opinion, however, it is unreasonable to expect companies in this industry to ignore a market that is clearly lucrative.
On the one hand, it is clear that the development of effective treatments for diseases represents the raison d’être of the pharmaceutical industry. Everyone requires access to good quality medical care when they are unwell, and the significance of this cannot be overstated. For example, recent research showing how immunotherapy can effectively treat certain types of cancer is a testament to the importance of pharmaceutical companies continuing to pursue innovative medical treatments.
