Well, just like the Christmas day in the western countries, the Spring Festival is the biggest celebration in China. It is on the first day of the lunar calendar. All of the family members get together to greet and chat with each other. The event which impresses me deeply is a thorough cleaning of our houses. It is a tradition of Chinese New Year because it means a wish expel unfortunate and old things and welcome the hopeful New Year. Also, our family would like to decorate house with red couplets, on which we wrote some blessing phrases. Usually, it was my dad’s responsibility to write words there. In the evening, all the relative would gather to have a reunion dinner, on the New Year’s Eve. I enjoyed this moment the most because I can taste various kinds of delicious cuisines. It was also a custom for my family to watch the CCTV New Year Gala during the family reunion dinner. New Year Gala lasted 4 hours from 8:00pm to 12:00pm. Elaborate programs such as dancing and singing performances would brought us a lot of laughter.
