There is a debate about the kinds of subjects that students should study. One view is that students should study a wide range of subjects, while another view is that they should only study subjects which are useful for their future, such as those related to science and technology. In this essay, I will examine both views and express my own opinion.
On the one hand, it may be argued that studying a wide range of subjects is essential for the overall development of students. By studying different subjects, students can acquire a range of skills and knowledge, which could help them to adapt to diverse circumstances in the future. For example, studying a foreign language could enhance communication abilities and enable students to interact with people from different cultures. Moreover, a wide range of knowledge could not only promote people's comprehension of the world but also stimulate their thinking and intellectual capacity.
On the other hand, some people believe that students should only study those subjects that will be useful to their future plans. The reasons for this are that students will have limited time for study and need to focus on acquiring practical knowledge. For instance, the current world is rapidly developing in the area of science and technology, and students who pursue degrees in those areas will find more job opportunities in the market. Students who choose to major in humanities or other social sciences may face more challenges finding a job and competing in the job market.
In conclusion, whilst studying a wide range of subjects has its merits, I believe that students should take courses according to their future plans. Schools should provide professors or counselors to help them to choose the courses and majors that are suitable for their abilities, interests, and career development prospects.
