Some people regard museums as places to educate people with history and should function for imparting information whereas some others assert that museums aim to entertain people. In my opinion, museums can be places that combine both educational and entertainment purposes.

On one hand, people believe that the primary goal of museums is to educate people by explaining the historic facts behind various exhibits. Since it is a great place for the public to learn remarkable progress in human history. Besides, museums also employ specialists and volunteers to give lectures or organize special events in an interesting manner.

Thus, audiences at different ages are able to develop insight of the exhibit that may seem dull to them previously. Such museums like the Metropolitan Museum of New York and the British Museum in London are great examples, In this way, museum plays an important role of educating and enriching people about history and culture.

On the other hand, some people argue that the museum aims at entertaining people because it serves as tourist attractions in many cities around the world. It can be seen over the world that a large number of tourists simply enjoy looking at collections and taking pictures of them. Moreover, some museums prefer to focus on enjoyment rather than learning since they assert that visitors may get bored if they merely walk around the showroom by reading and listening to introductory materials. In such cases, the main function of museums is to entertain the public.

Personally, it seems to me that the museum can perform both amusing and educating roles. Because it is necessary for a well-extablished museum to provide enjoyable as well as educational experience so that people can learn something while having fun at the same time.
