很多人花长期远离家外出工作和生活，这对他们来说是优点多还是缺点多呢?

It is a common phenomenon that people, especially many of the city white-collar class, left their home to work and live in civic center or metropolis. Advocator hold the view that it is beneficial for people’s personal development, whereas objectors believe it results to lack of time sharing with their family members.

One of the main reasons why so many young adults decide to work and live away from home is that they believe central business districts and big cities can provide them with more employment options and career opportunities than the places they lived before. And some consider that the fierce business competition in downtown area can encourage workers to fully apply themselves to personal career development and to be more enterprising and ambitious. Besides of work demands, downtown can also provide people with a variety of recreation and networking activities as there are plenty of facilities such as restaurants and bars in the civic center, where people can enjoy a colorful life with their friends and colleagues after work.

Others believe that no matter how occupied one might be, one should always bear in mind that family goes first and he or she should never neglect family because of work. One’s sense of fulfillment and achievement from work can never be a substitution for the pleasure and joy by family activities. And there is no way communications and feeling exchanges among family members can be replaced by social activities.

Even though that working and living away from home may lead to less time spending with one’s family, it does not necessarily mean that one should give up the opportunity to work in a big city or central area. And people can still keep in touch with their parents or children by making phone calls and having video chats regularly and they can also spend time with their family during holidays.
