Online shopping is becoming increasingly popular among consumers of various age groups, with the total sates soaring every year. It brings benefits to both sellers and buyers, although there are some concerns about this pattern.
For sellers, doing business online means a much wider market and their products can reach everywhere in the world. This is beneficial to buyers as well. With home-delivery service, they can stay at home and buy whatever they need, saving a great deal of lime and energy. In addition, online shopping makes it easier for consumers to compare the price of the goods and find bargains, without going from one store to another, as they used to do before. The competition between sellers would motivate them to improve the quality of their products and services, which conforms to the interests of consumers.
However, online shopping may expose consumers to risks. The first concern is the possibility of buying fake goods, as the transaction is done in the virtual space. Also, the loopholes on the web may lead to disclosure of personal information or even theft of identity. Another problem is irrational consumption. Shopping can be done at any time of the day or night, with various kinds of goods from all over the world available on the computer. Consumers may find it difficult to resist the temptation and end up in buying more things than they really need.
To sum up, online shopping is expected to grow rapidly and continuously, as it represents the selling-buying and in the future. If the cyber security could be improved, people would, be more satisfied with the experience of shopping on the web.
