My parents are migrant workers, and we move a lot since I was six, so I have no steady friendship.
When I got to my new school at 10 and met my class, my teacher introduced me as a nerd, which I liked. But in this school it was not cool to be smart. So i was 'doomed' to hang out with the geeks and sit in the front desk.
That is when I met Bobo. We quickly became best friends, always together, doing crazy stuff.
Then he started getting fat, and in one year he gained over 15kg. The doctors later diganosed him with third degree diabetes. Though diabetes changes his life completely, I was there to make sure it changed in a positive way. I was always there, I ate what he had to eat, did excercise with him. My job was to brighten their spirit, and make getting healthy fun.
When, on the end of rehabilitation, Bobo said thank you, I replied 'I owe you one'. He said, what do you mean? You were there for me, for all of us, you gave up your time to play, and even to eat normal food and candy, just to help me. I think I owe you? And then I said something he will never forget: "I owe it to me, to make you happy. So whenever there is anything you need I will be there for you. It is my duty to keep a smile on your face!"
After he recovered, he was always there. Every time my family was moving he was there. During times when we were very poor, he came in double clothes to pick me up for school so I had what to wear. He was my protector from bullies and we stood together in and out of school. Even now he is here, as always. And I trust this man with my life.
We are more than brothers and more than friends. There is now nothing I can ever do to repay him for what he did for me, and there is nothing he can do to repay me. We are bound to make each other live happy lives as best we can.
